George Samuel Evans (3 June 1802 – 23 September 1868), was a barrister, editor and politician in New Zealand and colonial Australia. 〔 〕 one of the earliest English settlers in New Zealand and for some time a Minister of the Crown in Victoria (Australia). ==Early life== Evans was admitted to the English Bar, and early became associated with the Wakefield colonisation schemes.
